Introducing The Album Room (and our new office space!)

When most people imagine the life of a photographer, they imagine someone who is out and about all day long, camera in hand, capturing all the beauty that their eye sees.  Unfortunately, we spend a lot more time in the studio editing, responding to emails, fulfilling orders, and all the little things that keep a small business going.  We are constantly trying to improve our workflow and one of the things that we found was taking up an exceptionally larger percentage of our time was creating albums for our clients.  It’s something we love to do, but it’s a very time consuming and complicated process.  No matter what we did to try to streamline the process, we were always behind and we found that every wedding photographer we know was having the same experience.

We started looking around and took inspiration from the many companies out there that let you download software, make a layout yourself and will print just one copy of a digital photo book for you relatively cheaply.  We wondered if we could use a similar strategy for our high-end leather-bound wedding albums.  And from that, The Album Room was born.  We offer the same beautiful, custom printed wedding albums that we’ve always carried but with the option to do the layout yourself here in our studio.  Full service is also still available if you aren’t the do-it-yourself type.  Pippa, Craig’s wife, is heading up the new business and even if we weren’t the photographers on your wedding, you can still bring in your pictures and do your album through us.

And speaking of the studio, we have a beautiful new space in the same building, just four floors up from where we were.  We’ve expanded to fit both Craig Paulson Photography and The Album Room with a super cozy meeting space in the middle.  As if having a big new space isn’t exciting enough, it was formerly occupied by the poet Allen Ginsberg.  In fact, we are not allowed to remove his sign from the door (we don’t mind, we think it’s really cool!).  We’ll be planning an open house soon, so stay tuned for more info.
