Jennifer & James’s New Year’s Eve Wedding – Carlyle on the Green

There’s something so romantic about this wedding. The light, the venue and the couple all look like they are straight out of an old black and white movie. Jenn and James were married on New Year’s Eve at Carlyle on the Green. They were determined to have a fun wedding and by the looks of the pictures, they certainly succeeded. Although everyone was dressed to the nines in tuxes and gorgeous black dresses, they were boogying down until the wee hours of the morning. At the end of the night, James’s Dad even serenaded them with a cover of a Rolling Stones song. Sounds to me like the perfect way to spend New Year’s Eve.

Megan and Mark’s wedding featured in Vermont Vows

Megan and Mark had a beautiful summer wedding just outside of Burlington, VT which is being featured in the most recent issue of Vermont Vows Magazine. Megan is an event planner herself (and a great one at that!) so she put together a top notch group of vendors and everything came together perfectly. The amazing food was by a local chef, Pace Catering, who used fresh local ingredients, Jessica’s Country Flowers made the decor elegant and relaxed, and DJ Scott Melker had hands down the best dance mix I’ve heard at a wedding. Seriously, the best. Even the weather was spectacular.

Craig Paulson & The Album Room Open House

You may know that earlier this year we made a number of changes: we moved to a larger space within the same building and started up The Album Room, which handles all our album design and production. We offer full service design and a DIY option where couples can come in and create the album layout themselves. Well we are all settled in and are ready to show off our new digs!

On Thursday, April 26 from 11am to 8pm we will be opening our doors to show off the new space and to introduce The Album Room. So come on by for some coffee or a glass of wine (and there will be treats!). Stick around and we’ll give you a tour or just pop in to say “Hi”.

Gracie’s Blog Summaries – Alison & Jay

Gracie’s been at it again with another one of her fantastic blog summaries. This time she went way back in to the archives to a wedding from 2009, which was during the early days of blogging for us. This particular wedding has become one of our favorites and looking back at the blog posting, we just didn’t do it justice. We’ve included some additional images of Alison and Jay’s wedding below which hopefully help illustrate Gracie’s comments a little better.

Allie & Taemin’s Snowy Botanical Gardens Wedding

Weather can be very unpredictable in New York, and this year has been particularly unusual. It was late October and Allie and Taemin’s wedding was scheduled to be at the New York Botanical Garden – a gorgeous venue that offers a ton of beautiful locations for pictures. But that morning about an hour before we were scheduled to start shooting, the snow started falling. And there was a lot and it was sticking. By the time we were ready to do pictures, there were several inches on the ground and it was still falling. Allie and Taemin were determined to still go outside for pictures. They braved the cold and wet and it was well worth it.

As you can imagine, a sudden snow storm can really throw a wrench in your wedding plans, but the day was handled impeccably by Christine at Exquisite Affairs Productions. It was truly an honor working with such a pro.

Introducing a new photographer – David Filipponi

We’ve got a new photographer on our roster and we are so excited to tell you a little bit more about him. His name is David Filipponi and he’s recently moved to New York from London. Originally from France, David worked with a studio in London for 10 years before coming over to this side of the pond. When we met him and saw his work, we immediately knew he would be a great fit with the studio. His photos convey so much warmth and romance and we are very excited to be able to represent him as one of our photographers.

Jacquelyn & Chris’s Buttermilk Falls Wedding

There’s something so timelessly elegant about Jacquelyn and Chris’s wedding: the lacy flourishes on the bride’s dress, the gorgeous white and green centerpieces in wood boxes, and the stunning venue: Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa. Jacquelyn is a graphic designer and her sense of style really shines throughout the whole day. And looking at the pictures you would never know that it was pouring rain the morning of the wedding.

Sarena & Nait’s Engagement

Sarena and Nait are getting married in July of this year and they have come up with some really cute ways to get the word out there. First off, Nait proposed by sending Sarena an authentic-looking Groupon email offering her one heck of a deal: “…1 (one) lifetime of happiness…”. Take a look below at the initial “offer” and the page that came up when she clicked “yes”.

They also came up with a really cute idea for their save the dates which looks like the front of an iPhone with a photo fron their engagement session, a link to their wedding website and their venue. Love it!

We were recently gifted a beautiful print of Allen Ginsberg from our great friend Wyatt Counts. Our studio in Union Square was Allen Ginsberg’s office up until his death in 1997. This print of Allen in his apartment now hangs by our front door. If you come to the studio you will notice his name still on the door as the building has forbidden it’s removal. That’s ok with us; we’re honored to share our door space with such a literary icon.
