Now I’m sure you are wondering who our #1 fan is and I’m proud to announce that it’s Gracie, Craig’s 8 year old daughter. And don’t worry, she didn’t get extra points because she is Craig’s daughter. You’ve got to admit that her hand-written summaries are some of the sweetest things you’ve seen. So here is the first in our series, from Carrie and Kevin’s wedding post:

Colleen & Michael’s Connecticut Wedding

This is one of the most intimate weddings we’ve ever worked on with one of the most handsome couples as well. Colleen and Michael had a very small ceremony at their home in Connecticut that included just an officiant and their children as witnesses. After the ceremony, they had a lovely evening reception with just their closest friends and family in a tent in their back yard. Even though it was a small event, the day exuded elegance. It’s great when a couple makes the day personal and everything about Colleen and Michael’s wedding feels so warm and inviting. It was truly a joy to be a part of their celebration.

Patricia and Brian’s Ritz Carlton Battery Park Wedding

When we first met with Patricia and her mother, we knew it would be a great wedding. They were easy going and excited to work with us. Patricia and Brian were married at the beautiful St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan with a reception at the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park with a stop in Central Park in between for pictures. It was the perfect New York City wedding for a perfect couple.

Mariska and David’s Amsterdam Wedding

Photographing a destination wedding is very different than photographing a wedding in another country where the couple are locals, as was the case with Mariska and David’s wedding in Amsterdam. You are surely wondering how we ended up in the Netherlands for a wedding so here is the long story short-ish:

David, the groom, is a wedding photographer and an Australian (like Craig!) but he lives in The Netherlands. He was planning his wedding to Mariska when he met Craig in Australia (are you still following this?) and Craig volunteered one of his photographers to go to Amsterdam as a second photographer for Mariska and David’s wedding (they had already arranged for the super talented Ronny Rozenberg to be the main photographer). Craig mentioned it to me and I begged and pleaded to go until Craig relented.

The wedding day itself was the only day without rain for the entire week. It was a little intimidating at first because I was sure I would run in to traditions that I wasn’t used to as an American (Cake right after the ceremony? That’s my kind of tradition!). But I quickly realized that Mariska and David’s families are some of the most lovely and welcoming people you will ever meet and those qualities extended to their friends as well. I started out with Mariska getting ready at her home while Ronny was with David. After they saw each other for the first time, we drove to the school where Mariska is a teacher. All the kids in her class were lined up dressed as brides and grooms in home made hats and veils. They sang songs and had a mini wedding ceremony followed by a walk through the schoolyard where all of the kids in the school had lined up to greet them. From there we followed them in their gorgeous antique Porsche convertible to a beautiful park overlooking the water close to where Mariska had grown up for couples pictures. The ceremony and reception were in the heart of Amsterdam at the oldest hotel in the city, right along a canal. There many magical and wonderful things that happened at this wedding; so many that I could never cover them all here. Suffice it to say that it was one of the best experiences I’ve had as a wedding photographer and I know Mariska and David will have a wonderful happy life together.

Carrie & Kevin Waccabuc Lake Wedding

As the studio manager I get to interact with all the couples that come through the studio. And I knew from when we first met with Carrie and Kevin that this would be a great wedding. They were both so lively and fun when we met with them. And they didn’t seem to let the stress of planning a wedding get to them at all. Then when I saw the pictures I was blown away by how happy everyone looks. Be sure to check out the last picture on the misty golf course at the Waccabuc Country Club after the rain cleared. You couldn’t plan for such a perfect setting.

Becca & Ian’s wedding on Style Me Pretty

It’s always exciting when we have a wedding featured on Style Me Pretty and we are extra excited about this one because the bride, Becca, designed her own invitations and has recently started her own invitation design company and being featured on Style Me Pretty is a huge boost for her new business. She’s super talented and we really hope her company, Suite Paperie, does well.

Kristen & Andrew’s Wedding at the Old Field Club

We are always trying to make our couples’ experience with our company a better one and we are really excited to be previewing a new way of viewing your wedding photos: as a 100 image slideshow. We will be sending these to couples a few weeks after the wedding so they have something to look at before the bulk of the pictures are ready.

Here is one for the lovely Kristen and Andrew who were married at the Old Field Club in Long Island. I swear, this couple is like a Prince and Princess in real life: great looking, full of life and so sweet and lovely. They are like a match made in Disney heaven. The Club has a private beach with some really cool brightly colored cabanas that made a great backdrop for photos. Enjoy!

Lisa & Britt’s Long Island Wedding

Lisa and Britt are two of the happiest in love people I have ever seen. It was clear when we met with them that they were just absolutely thrilled to be together. Then when I saw the pictures and the endless smiling faces I knew that- as cheesy as it sounds- they were meant to be. They were married at the Meadow Edge at West Sayville and they allowed a lot of time for couples pictures which we always love. They had a little rain but not enough to dampen the mood. I predict many long happy years together for these two.

Melanie and Craig’s Brooklyn Engagement Shoot

Melanie and Craig are getting married in October and this summer Craig had the chance to get to know them a little better during their engagement shoot. They hail from Brooklyn so they wanted their engagement shoot to take place in Brooklyn and it was really exciting to try something new. We love our usual engagement shoot route but it’s nice to mix it up a little, especially when it was in an area that had so much meaning for the couple. And what a lovely, wonderful couple! We are very excited for the wedding!

Jacqueline & Stu

Jacqueline and Stu are one of the most unique couples we’ve worked with. Just look at that gorgeous dress of hers with the skirt covered in feathers! They met before the ceremony and took pictures at the Conservatory Garden, one of the most beautiful nooks that you’ll find in Central Park. A little cloud cover made for a perfect day for photography. At the reception, Jacqueline and the women in her family took to the dance floor and belly danced the night away. Even her grandmother was showing off her dancing skills. What a great couple!
